These include new construction, as well as modifications and additions to existing structures. Public works designs have included multi-million gallon tanks above and below grade, galleries pump stations, drain enclosures, sewers and junction chambers, elevated tanks and earth retention facilities from sea walls to systems using mechanically stabilized embankments. Buildings designed for such projects can be of minimal complexity and size or may need to be constructed around a network of highly specialized equipment and controls. The framing system may need to conform to an unobtrusive architecture or to one of featured prominence. Industrial projects often entail additions and modifications to buildings, pipe trestles and tanks both above and below grade.
